Projects
Garrod building
The complete refurbishment of the Grade II listed Garrod Building in Whitechapel. Formerly housing the library of the Royal London Hospital, it is now a teaching space with an extensive collection of medical school research material. The project involved the complete internal refurbishment of the building, including the creation of new spaces for the student union in the form of offices, café, bar, function room, and gym. Teaching areas, including the Milton and Ex Anatomy lecture theatres, were refurbished.
Willowfield School
Works included the creation of a new reception area including an entrance bridge, re-configuring office space and the formation of a secure exam papers store, an extension to construct 4 new maths classrooms, 3 new science rooms, associated ancillary rooms including toilets, plus works to link into the existing school. The roof of the extension has been finished with a rubber crumb permeable surface which drains into an impermeable liquid roof system below, all of which has provided a recreation and teaching space, a shaded canopy area, rubber crumbed safety floor and an art area.
Chelmsford Museum
Renovation of the Victorian section of the museum, a new cafe area, a new outdoor glass display for a Southend Pier train carriage, increased parking capacity, and refurbishment and extension of the old Bothy. Works inside the building were restricted to the Victorian section, including stripping out and renewing services such as ventilation, formation of the new cafe area, repairs to the fabric, and creation of new openings for external access. Toilets and washing facilities were provided, as well as a new cafe kitchen area. Externally, new accessible ramps were constructed, and an external patio area was created outside the cafe.
