Projects
Premier Inn & Beach Residences
Our clients Roffey Homes in conjunction with ECE Architecture and Westbrooke Developments set out to rejuvenate Worthing seafront with a striking and contemporary design comprising 49 residential apartments and penthouses and an 81 bedroom hotel and restaurant.
We were involved in the project from the early stages where acoustic design advice was provided in respect of various elements which included the sound insulation of internal partitions and floors and input regarding plant noise for the hotel's heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
This was followed by post construction sound insulation and air tightness testing.
Hailsham Community College (HCCAT)
Development of a new and refurbished educational facility. Working with our client, Morgan Sindall, we were part of a multi-disciplinary team facilitating the project from design through to post-construction. Our input included assessing the external sound pressure levels to quantify the soundscape and determine the required level of acoustic attenuation. We provided advice on wall separations between teaching spaces, from special educational needs (SEN) areas to larger teaching spaces. Additional guidance was given on reverberation times in classrooms, plant noise, and the review of external Multi-Use Games Areas (MUGAs) to assess potential noise impact on nearby residents. Finally, we conducted post-construction testing.
Adur Tidal Wall Project
Prediction and long-term monitoring of the levels of noise and vibration arising from piling activities in connection with the tidal defences around the Shoreham Port and the River Adur at Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex. The scheme significantly reduced the flood risk to over 2300 properties in the Shoreham & Lancing areas. We were responsible for the prediction of levels of noise and vibration resulting from the piling operations, many of which were in very close proximity to sensitive premises, both residential and commercial, sometimes within just a few meters.
